Move your feet to control your phone
The concept is simple: make a specific move with your sneakers, and your Samsung phone responds. The different movements correspond to actions on your phone. For example, you can dance to make a call or play music with the moonwalk. Samsung developed this Limited Edition sneaker especially for its Members fanbase: a world’s first gadget, with only six pairs in existence.
“Technology makes life more fun, humorous, and magical,” says Gerben van Walt Meijer, Marketing Manager Mobile eXperiences at Samsung Netherlands. “Samsung not only innovates to make life more efficient but also to enrich it. With a wink, we are launching the sneaker of the future: the Shortcut Sneaker. The sneaker that allows you to control your phone by moving.”
Galaxy sneaker design
Sneaker designer Roel van Hoff created a unique design, inspired by the Galaxy and the universe. The shoe incorporates materials reminiscent of meteorites and supernovas with unique textures and colors. Every detail of the sneaker references Samsung’s Galaxy products.
Sneaker AI Software & sensors
The sneakers’ soles contain motion sensors that continuously track their position relative to each other. Five unique movements trigger five shortcuts. By having as many people as possible perform the dances hundreds of times, the algorithm has become smarter and the motion recognition more accurate.
Tim and Daniël, Creative Directors at Cheil Benelux: “When Samsung makes a sneaker, we are obliged to incorporate innovation. Roel van Hoff’s design already makes it a remarkable sneaker, but combined with this technology, we’ve created something we hope the loyal Samsung community will love. It’s quite unique: the first sneaker in the world that lets you call your friends
